Fuck What You Love #4
Fuck What You Love is a zine about popstar crushes, featuring writing from women and LGBTQ+ people. The zine celebrates the importance of crushing on musicians to marginalised music fans, and gives voice to passions that are often dismissed as silly or trite by cishet male music critics. Issue 4 features 17 essays on crushes including Madonna, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Rufus Wainwright and Harry Styles, with writers from around the world addressing subjects such as fanfiction writing, the discovery of self through queer crushes, and falling out of love with teen obsessions.
The zine is a 44-page A5 publication, black and white inside with a dreamy pale pink cover. It’s designed by Manchester-based graphic designer Kate Dunstone, with gorgeous images by illustrators Alice Carnegie and Mairi Laird.
